Marvell 88DE2710 Video Format Converter with Award Winning Qdeo Technology Powers VBrick
Networked Video Appliances
Versatile Qdeo Technology Continues to Gain Industry Momentum in New Application Segments
Santa Clara, CA (April 20, 2009) — Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a leader in storage, communications, and consumer silicon solutions, today announced that VBrick, a leader in Enterprise IP Video solutions, has selected the Marvell® 88DE2710 video format converter with Qdeo™ technology to power its 7000 HD series of networked video appliances. Utilizing Qdeo technology, the VBrick 7000 HD series is intended to allow organizations to deliver video in a wide range of quality – from 3Gb/s SDI to HD – over any network infrastructure.
“VBrick chose Marvell and its Qdeo technology because we believe they offer the best image quality and the most flexible implementation for our V7000 HD series of networked appliances,” said John Senior, Senior Vice President, Engineering for VBrick Appliance. “We are able to provide a great viewing experience to our customers over any given bandwidth.”
VBrick selected the Marvell 88DE2710 because of its versatility in providing both pre-processing and post-processing of video. The ability of the 88DE2710 to provide a consistently superior and artifact free reformatted and processed image to the video encoding engine ensures that the VBrick 7000 HD series will enable superior image quality even at low bit-rates. These next-generation, networked appliances are also extremely easy to manage. Users can remotely configure and manage video delivery via a web-based interface that will allow streaming to be set up in mere minutes. This ease of management, combined with the reliability of the VBrick 7000 HD series, will enable low administrative costs and increased usage for enterprise users.
“Marvell’s award winning Qdeo technology is flexible and versatile — allowing it to power a range of applications from traditional consumer electronics devices to this new segment of networked appliances for enterprise applications,” said Gaurav Shah, Director of Product Marketing of the Digital Entertainment Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. “We believe that networked video will increasingly become a standard mode of content delivery for businesses and are pleased to work with VBrick on this innovative platform for the enterprise market.”
