BTX's EXPAND-ON Cable Sleeving Applicator Named Technology InAVation Awards 2009 Fina

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. ? Dec. 4, 2008 ? BTX today announced that its patent-pending EXPAND-ON sleeving applicator has been named a finalist in the 2009 Technology InAVation Awards in the category of Most InAVative AV Accessory for commercial and residential applications. Now in its third year, the EMEA+ InAVation Awards recognize and reward the achievements of all those working in the diverse pro AV integration sector.

Organized by IML Group PLC and supported by the leading industry media resources, the InAVation Awards celebrate all that is best in the Pro AV systems industry throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and beyond. The Technology InAVation Awards are voted for by the industry; each individual registered vote helps decide the 2009 technology innovations of choice. Online voting is now open at: http://www.inavationawardsonthenet.n…ogyvoting.aspx.

The EXPAND-ON is a patent-pending machine that eliminates the tedious process of applying expandable sleeving to a cable bundle. Typically, technicians apply expandable sleeving by “inch-worming” the sleeving up the length of the cable, which can be very time consuming with 50-foot and 100-foot cable bundles. However, with the innovative EXPAND-ON sleeving machine, the user simply loads the sleeving over the tube, pushes the wire bundle through the inside of the tube until it appears out of the other end, then pulls both the sleeving and wire bundle together to the desired length. The EXPAND-ON reduces the time it takes to apply expandable sleeving from hours to a few minutes, saving installers both time and money.

The EXPAND-ON machine features 3-foot tubes for cable bundles up to 50 feet in length, and 6-foot tubes for cable bundles up to 100 feet in length. With diameters from ½ inch to 1 ½ inch, the tubes can be used with a wide range of expandable sleeving sizes, from ½ inch to 1 ¾ inch in diameter. Depending on the size of the bundle and the diameter of the sleeving, cable bundles much longer than 100 feet can be achieved.

The InAVation Awards winners will be announced at a special ceremony on the evening of Monday, February 2, 2009 in the Ballrooms of the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam, during the 2009 Integrated Systems Europe show.
