Atlona Joins HDBaseT Alliance for Home Multimedia Connectivity

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — May 17, 2011 — Atlona Technologies(R) today announced that the company has joined HDBaseT Alliance (http://www.HDBaseT.org/). As an adopter member, Atlona will be leveraging its expertise in digital connectivity solutions to help define and advance the development and adoption of the HDBaseT(TM) standard for multimedia connectivity.

Incorporated on June 14, 2010, HDBaseT Alliance was formed by LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Valens Semiconductor to promote and standardize HDBaseT technology for whole-home distribution of uncompressed HD multimedia content. HDBaseT enables a single LAN cable to replace multiple cables and connectors in the home entertainment and business environment. HDBaseT is optimized for video applications and can connect all entertainment devices in a setting by providing the 5Play(TM) convergence of uncompressed full HD digital video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, power over cable, and various control signals.

“We are honored to welcome Atlona as a valued member and representative of HDBaseT Alliance,” said Ariel Sobelman, president and chairman, HDBaseT Alliance. “With support from leading companies such as Atlona, HDBaseT technology is positioned to become the unrivaled next-generation home networking transport. By working collaboratively to leverage our members’ collective and invaluable expertise, we are confident we can accomplish this goal.”

Atlona currently offers a number of products based on HDBaseT technology, including the AT-DVI4-100SR and AT-HD4-V110SR DVI HDMI extender kits. The perfect solutions for remotely located computers, video codecs, and matrix switchers, the units extend DVI and HDMI transmissions up to 350 feet with resolutions up to 4Kx2K over a single Cat 5/6/7 cable. In Q3 2011, Atlona will introduce its new AT-PRO2HD88M-SR and AT-PRO2HD1616M-SR true 8×8 and 16×16 high-speed HDMI matrix switchers with HDBaseT technology. The switchers extend HDMI sources up to 330 feet at 4Kx2K resolution, in addition to providing analog 2-channel stereo, bidirectional RS-232, and zone-specific bidirectional IR pass-through up to 60 KHz.

“We are proud to join HDBaseT Alliance and play a role in advancing the adoption of the HDBaseT standard,” said Ilya Khayn, president of Atlona Technologies. “In our own products, HDBaseT technology has provided our customers with a number of unique benefits for applications with remotely located equipment requiring the highest-quality video. The end result is greatly simplified installations and lower costs for integrators, and unrivaled performance for their clients. As the standard continues to develop, we look forward to helping the Alliance achieve its goals.”

Atlona’s extenders and matrix switchers based on HDBaseT technology will be on display at InfoComm 2011 in booth 3671. The products will also be showcased at HDBaseT Alliance’s booth 2474.
