Emotiva Audio Corporation announced today that an enhanced version of their highly regarded XMC-1 7.2 channel Preamp/Processor will be available in August. The enhancement is to provide add HDMI 2.0 and HDCP functionality. The XMC-1 has long been considered to be one of Emotiva’s flagship products.
In addition, Emotiva is making this HDMI 2.0 and HDCP functionality upgrade free to all customers who purchased the XMC-1, new, from Emotiva. This upgrade will be available to others at a nominal price.
Dan Laufman, President and Founder was quoted in the announcement, “True to our word, the HDMI/HDCP upgrade adds full HDMI 2.0 and HDCP functionality with little or no cost to our customers.”
The XMC-1 modular design was considered revolutionary when first introduced in 2014. It is this modular design that allows the XMC-1 to be upgraded to incorporate new features, such as the HDMI 2.0 and HDCP functionality, with minimal cost. Emotiva hopes this design approach allows the flagship product to never become outdated. Emotiva is anticipating announcing further enhancements in December 2016, including Dolby Atmos and DTS-X.
