CEDIA 2016 Show Report Day 1 Coverage

Christian Eberle

It’s that time of year! CEDIA Expo 2016 has officially begun in Dallas, Texas and Secrets will be covering the show floor starting tomorrow.

I’m on my way to Dallas as I write this hoping to make it on time for Sony’s press shindig at 4:30 this afternoon. They have several exciting new announcements in both their projection and flat panel display lines. No doubt it’ll be more Ultra HD and more HDR!

Tomorrow I’ll be starting my day with a visit to LG for their new OLED display introductions followed by a trip to Epson’s excellent theater. You might think they played all their cards at CE Week with the announcement of the new Pro Cinema 6040UB (full review coming soon!), but they’re not done yet. New high-output models and a new laser projector are making their debuts.

I’ll also be checking out Sony’s new displays in more detail followed by a trip to Paradigm where I believe they’re showing an all-new line of speakers. Screen Innovations comes up in the early afternoon where I’ll get to see new roll-up systems and what’s new in masking setups. I’ll be capping off the day with a press conference at Lenbrook, distributor for PSB, NAD and Bluesound.

In between those booth visits I’ll be looking for other cool and interesting things in the world of video. I expect this year to be all about 4K and HDR. JVC is expected to show a new projector line and I’m betting it’ll include 4K-native imaging chips plus HDR. Also on the agenda are visits to Vivitek, Seymour Screen Excellence, Sim2, Barco and Samsung. That’s all slated for Friday.

Watch this space for these and other new product info. On the audio side, we’ll be hearing from Secrets Co-Editor Jim Clements as he brings you coverage of everything audio. It looks to be an exciting show and I can’t wait to get started! Oh, I think that’s my boarding call. Off we go!
