When a mysterious assassin starts killing off the world’s most beautiful people, haute-shot Interpol agent Valencia (Cruz) learns that the key to this deadly plot lies with Derek and Hansel (Wilson). I found the first movie to be tolerable, but then again, 15 years ago, the fashion industry was superficial and silly. Stiller cleverly mocked it and the shallowness of the “It” crowd. Z2 was more of the same, except without the cleverness. It just retreads on the original movie with the same fashion jokes and a murder plot that really doesn’t go anywhere.

To fill up the run-time of the movies, a dozen cameos are added, but other than a fleeting moment with Benedict Cumberbatch, I found them all to be dull and their presence added nothing to the movie. Even my wife turned to me after an hour and said, “This is really boring.” Derek, your movie is out of style.
Fear not, fashion friends…the disc looks really good with lots of vibrant colors and hilarious looking costumes. Details are razor sharp and the contrast is excellent. Shadows are inky black without crushing. Sound is clear and loud with the subwoofer staying on throughout the movie. Surround sound is generous and keeps you in the middle of things.
